Welcome to my website.

You might be asking “What are Fiber Landscapes?”   These are landscapes that have been created using a variety of materials made from different kinds of fibers. Woven fabrics are my most commonly used material and are the base for much of my art. Other fiber materials are used to enhance my art and achieve different effects and a significant level of detail.

As a young artist I wanted to paint. My efforts frustrated me. One day I realized I should combine two art forms I love most: photography and sewing.

In college, my first love was photography. Today I have my camera with me every day. I am in awe of the beautiful  landscapes I come upon. The photographs I take become the inspiration for my art. My second love is sewing. My earliest memories are of the fun I had playing with fabric. I was always trying to create something out of fabric. Therefore, it was a natural fit to transform my photographs into art using all manner of fiber products and sewing them on my “canvas”.

I begin with one photograph or use elements from several photographs to create my basic design. Once my design is complete, I select my materials. If I can not find what I need I paint and hand dye fabrics to achieve my desired effects.

To create my art, I use every sewing technique I know.  Once the art is finished it is then attached to  a wooden stretcher, ready to frame.
